Here’s the thing about mold: it loves damp, still air. It’s basically a paradise for spores. By using specific infrared waves, these lamps keep your fixtures warm enough that water simply can’t settle. When your mirror stays warm, the steam doesn’t turn back into droplets. No condensation means no puddles, and no puddles means the mold has nothing to hold onto. We aren’t trying to turn your bathroom into a sauna. It’s more about killing off those annoying “cold spots” where moisture likes to hide.
The Nitty-Gritty Stuff
To make this work, the materials have to be spot on. We use high-purity quartz for the lamp envelopes so the heat actually gets out. And since bathrooms are, well, wet, the seals have to be airtight. If a tiny bit of moisture sneaks in and hits that hot filament? Pop. The lamp is gone. One quick heads-up for the install: make sure your wiring can handle the initial kick. These high-wattage lamps pull a decent amount of power the second you flip the switch.
A Few Trade-offs
Infrared is fast. Like, “instant warmth” fast. But it only works if it can “see” the surface. It’s a straight line. If you hang a thick towel or pull a shower curtain right in front of the beam, that spot stays cold and damp. You’ve got to be smart about where you put them. Focus on the usual suspects—the mirror and the edges of the shower. If you miss a corner, don’t be surprised if you still see a bit of fogging there.
